Why I’m Looking Forward to Beyond the Script LIVE 2026

By Allison Sikorsky, DNP, PMHNP-BC
Founder & CEO, PMHScribe

There are conferences you attend for education, and conferences you attend to meet people. And every once in a while, there is an event where you genuinely look forward to the entire experience. For me, Beyond the Script LIVE 2026 feels like one of those events.

This October, I’ll be heading to Orlando to join fellow psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners for Beyond the Script LIVE, an event built specifically around the PMHNP community. I’m looking forward to learning, presenting, having some important conversations about AI in mental health care, and, yes, laughing a little too.

But more than anything, I’m looking forward to being with my people.

Why Beyond the Script LIVE Matters to Me

I’ve spent more than 30 years working in healthcare, and my career has included clinical practice, telepsychiatry, healthcare leadership, entrepreneurship and, eventually, building PMHScribe. Through all of those chapters, one thing has remained consistent: some of the most valuable conversations happen when clinicians have an opportunity to simply be together.

Beyond the Script LIVE brings PMHNPs together in Orlando October 14 – 17, 2026, for several days of education, conversation and connection.

I’m excited about the sessions, but I’m equally excited about the conversations that happen between them, over coffee, at dinner, or in those unscheduled moments when someone says, “I’ve been thinking about that too.” Those conversations matter a lot to me.

AI in the Therapy Chair: A Conversation We Need to Be Having

I’m also honored to be presenting at Beyond the Script LIVE on Thursday, October 15 at 2:45 PM. My session, “AI in the Therapy Chair: Who’s Responsible When Things Go Wrong?”, will explore a question that is becoming increasingly important as artificial intelligence becomes part of psychiatric and mental health care.

AI can offer clinicians powerful new tools. But adopting new technology also raises important questions about clinical decision-making, liability, patient safety and professional accountability. Who remains responsible when AI is involved in a clinical workflow? How should clinicians evaluate the information these tools provide? Where should the boundaries be? And how do we embrace useful technology without losing sight of our responsibilities to the people sitting across from us?

These aren’t theoretical questions anymore.

As both a practicing PMHNP and the founder of an AI documentation company, I spend a lot of time thinking about the intersection of technology and clinical practice. I believe clinicians should shape this conversation, not simply react to technology after it arrives. I’m looking forward to exploring these questions with colleagues who understand the realities of psychiatric practice firsthand.

Technology Should Support the Clinician

That philosophy is also a big part of why I founded PMHScribe. I knew the experience of finishing a long clinical day only to realize the documentation day wasn’t finished. As AI becomes more common in healthcare, conversations surrounding it can quickly become very broad.

But some of the most useful questions remain remarkably practical:

What is actually helping clinicians?

Where is technology creating unnecessary complexity?

What does responsible use look like in a real psychiatric workflow?

How do we make sure technology supports the clinician rather than distracting from the work that brought us into this profession?

Those are the conversations I’m always happy to have, particularly with other PMHNPs who understand the realities behind them.

And Yes, I’m Very Excited About Comedy Night

PMHScribe is also proud to present the Beyond the Script Laugh Lab with SAK Comedy Club during the conference. I love this part.

Mental health professionals spend their careers doing serious, important and often emotionally demanding work. Creating room to laugh together, relax and enjoy one another’s company feels like a pretty appropriate addition to a conference centered around this community. The Laugh Lab will bring attendees together for an interactive improv show after a full day of conference programming.

No charts. No inbox. No catching up on notes. Just an opportunity to laugh with a room full of people who understand the work.

I, for one, think we could all use a little more of that.

Looking Forward to Orlando

If you’re attending Beyond the Script LIVE this year, please come say hello. Join me Thursday afternoon for AI in the Therapy Chair. Ask me about PMHScribe. Tell me what you’re seeing with AI in your own practice. Tell me what’s working, what’s concerning you, or what you think our profession needs to discuss next. Or don’t talk about work at all.

More than anything, I’m looking forward to spending a few days learning, contributing, laughing and connecting with a community I’m very proud to be part of.

I look forward to seeing you in Orlando.
